Still fearing a massive invasion from Communist China, the Taiwanese maintain a vigilant defense of their airspace and of their shores. Their air force has 77,000 men and 580 combat aircraft, but most of these are growing obsolete. Mainland China suffers from the same problem, however, so if a conflict were to erupt between the two nations, Taiwan would not be at a technological disadvantage.
